This week is Brain Awareness Week, which sounds a little funny because I think we’re all aware we have a brain. But this movement is putting a lot of brainpower to work to get people thinking about this fascinating organ. Through this global educational campaign, new information about neuroscience is shared and it will help people understand how the brain works, what it does and how to take care of it.
The Beljanski Foundation is going to tap into Brain Awareness Week by holding a one-day online fundraising event on Friday, March 20th to support its research exploring the efficacy of the natural extract — Pao Pereira — against brain cancer (Glioblastoma). This aggressive brain tumor is very difficult to treat and despite improved technology for earlier diagnosis, no significant progress has been made in the treatment of this cancer.
We are encouraged by Mirko Beljanski’s earlier research conducted at the Pasteur Institute showing that extracts of Pao pereira have a broad-spectrum anti-cancer activity and that the active agents in these extracts cross the blood brain barrier. Dr. Beljanski’s research on Glioblastoma has been published and is available on the Beljanski Foundation website under the numbers: 123, 124, 125, 128, and 131.
Speaking of the brain, you may be interested in re-reading the post I wrote on the natural power of Omega-3 fats to help brain function (Sept 26, 2014). The science continues to mount about Omega-3 fatty acids importance in longevity, cognitive impairment, and structure and function of the brains neurons.1 That’s why I advocate for using daily supplements of these essential Omega-3 fats because it’s difficult to get what you need through your diet.
